What could be better than spending a few days off-roading through the Ligurian mountain forests at the end of late summer?

Quite simply: turning the outward journey into an on-road tour 😎

The weekend journey – at least a good 700 km over two days – set the tone: a direct route, but as beautiful and enjoyable as possible.

So, an increase in quality and slowness on Day 1: Fern Pass, Inn Valley, Engadine, Maloja Pass, Lake Como.

Day 2: Early in the day, take the small lake road south towards Como, then onto the highway across the northern Italian plain to the border with Piedmont. Off the Autobahn and into gourmet mode. Small roads, longitudinally through the Barolo region, lunch break at an agriturismo restaurant, Italian-style simple with sensational cuisine, then on into the Piedmont mountains towards Liguria.

A dream. You could just keep going. If you didn't have to go off-road … 🤣
