#03 - Monastery Sant'Anna in Camprena

The Sant'Anna monastery in Camprena is located about seven kilometers from Pienza, amidst a beautiful green oasis. The former monastic complex was founded by Bernardo Tolomei and has been inhabited since 1334. Its current appearance dates back to the complete renovation of the building between 1400 and 1500.

This historically and spiritually significant place has attracted many artists: it became widely known thanks to the Italian-American director Anthony Minghella, who used Sant'Anna in Camprena as a filming location for his film The English Patient, which won nine Oscars.

Not far away, enchanting “strade biance“ wind through the gently rolling hills of Tuscany back towards Siena.
