Route preference - Road category

The road category indicates the lowest road category for route preference that should be included in the tour planning. Road categories higher than the selected one are, of course, also used to "cover distance." However, the specified category is used wherever reasonably possible. Road categories lower than the selected one are almost always avoided.

Well-developed - federal highways and two-lane country roads, usually with a guideline (center line marking the lanes)

Country roads, two-lane, even without guideline

Other paved roads, including single-lane

Other roads, possibly unpaved or not completely paved

Route preference - Road type

The road type determines the characteristics of your route preference. The road type should match your estimated riding experience. Even the most beautiful route becomes torture if you're overwhelmed by its demands.

Fast across the country, major road passes OK

Curvy across the country, a pass here and there, but moderate

Small mountain roads, even challenging passes

Driving experience

Please assess your riding experience. If your travel group consists of two or more motorcycles, please choose the least experienced rider as reference.

Level 1 - Beginner (still developing routine, sometimes still unsure in various riding situations. Little or no experience with motorcycle touring.)

Level 2 - Flatland Rider (Experienced motorcyclist, confident in handling the motorcycle, even in more difficult riding situations. Little to no experience with winding roads and hairpin bends.)

Level 3 - First Tornanti Experience (Like Level 2, but with some experience with winding roads and hairpin bends.)

Level 4 - Tornanti Professional (Saddle-stable rider with extensive experience and confident and routine handling of the motorcycle in all riding situations. A fluid riding style, even on winding roads, and experience with hairpin bends and narrow roads.)
