Constantly rainy July in Germany. Fed up. Friends vacation in southwest Sardinia.
LET‘S DO IT!
Flight from Bolzano to Cagliari. Two hours from rain to sun. Pick up the moped, booked at www.motorentsardinia.com – highly recommended (!!) – and off we go…
First surprise: this August, it's cooler than expected here too. Not 30+ degrees Celsius. Warm, but not hot. Good thing!
Second surprise: the landscape isn't bland and arid, but rather shimmering golden. The maquis, the harvested fields, the gentle light, everything glows golden yellow. Fascinating!
Third surprise: Cagliari – what a vibrant, wonderful city!
It was a bit dusty ... behind me 😜
Like the "Strade bianche" in Tuscany, Sardinia also has sections of SPs, provincial roads, that aren't paved. Quite passable, not quite off-road yet, but definitely not for the fast-paced 😅
