Sometimes it just has to be OFFROAD...

Even more than riding on roads, off-roading feels like a direct, unhindered connection to the landscape. You have to adjust more closely to the terrain, ruts, and obstacles, making the environment an active partner rather than just a backdrop. Off-roading often leads through untouched areas. The immediate experience of nature enhances the feeling of freedom.

Off-roading has its own pulse. Each passage sets its own rhythm, one that seems slower yet more intense than smooth asphalt. Dust, the smell of rubber, the scent of wet earth, the rattle of the chain guide, the vibration of the grip – all of this focuses your consciousness on the here and now, almost meditatively, because so much is unpredictable outside.

It's like a choreographed game of balancing. Balance, gaze, weight shifting, and body tension become constant participants. You feel every muscle, and every slight slip of the tire tells a story of limits, control, and trust. Off-road driving makes it clear how small changes in setup—tire pressure, suspension travel, weight shift—can make a huge difference in traction and safety. It rewards precision, patience, and sensitivity more than speed. When you master a difficult section, a clear sense of skill and confidence emerges. You realize that technique, courage, and timing all work together to conquer what appears to be a challenging route.

In short: Off-road driving demands a lot and at the same time gives a lot back!

Viamaggio - Tuscany

June 2025

The Viamaggio "Agri-Endurismo" is special in many ways – and fantastic throughout!

The location is "in the middle of nowhere." Beautiful accommodations, a fantastic view over the hills of southern Tuscany to Siena, a lovely pool, pure peace and relaxation.

Angelo, „il capo“, is a likeable, crazy chaotic fellow, a true one-of-a-kind. His laughter and good humor set the tone for the day at breakfast. In the mornings, he offers tours in the surrounding area and leads off-road through the forests and fields of southern Tuscany.

The Viamaggio grounds themselves offer a network of off-road trails – perfect for training. Averagely quite challenging, it's certainly more for experienced riders than beginners.

In the evening, Angelo and his team conjure up a fantastic menu of Italian and Tuscan delicacies. Very filling, so you'll have something to work off the next day (-;

Our first stay at Angelo's Agri-Endurismo Viamaggio was fantastic all around – we'll be back!

Liguria

September 2024

Back in Liguria, back on the HighEnduroEnd. This time, riding in a group of people with solid enduro experience, a bit advanced.

Great trails, stunning landscapes in the Ligurian mountains between the sea, the French border, and Piedmont. With perfect guiding by Leon – simply a dream. For anyone who wants to ride off-road – an absolute must!

Liguria

September 2022

My first full-blown off-road tour on "mountain goats," pictured here on a Beta 300 X-Trainer.

The terrain: the Ligurian Alps and the French-Italian border ridge.

The plan: guided day tours by HighEnduroEnd with Leon and Marc.

The starting point: right in the middle of it all. A hotel on the pass road that leads from Liguria to Piedmont.

An absolutely fantastic week: gaining a lot of off-road experience, discovering great off-road trails, perfect guides, and nice people.

A special highlight: the Ligurian border ridge road, the Alta Via del Sale, under a bright blue sky and with visibility all the way to the top. A wow experience!
